Hello Terrific Toddler Room Parents

Goodbye Summer...Hello Fall!! We cannot believe how fast summer came and went. I hope that everyone had a chance to enjoy the great weather. We were very busy in the toddler room doing lots of great exploring and learning.

A big welcome to our new friends Ezra, Bayon and Clare, they are wonderful additions to our room. We have spent the past few weeks getting used to life in the yellow room. Denise and I have been working very hard on a daily routine. There is a schedule attached.

Ms. Denise and I have also been working very hard on self-help skills, encouraging the children to clean themselves up after snack and lunch. This is an important life skill and it has been very rewarding to watch the children wash up on their own. We have also been having the children "try" to dress their own feet. This is a win, win for Ms. Denise and I as they have learned very quickly it is much easier to keep their shoes on. Please if there is time and opportunity at home to practice either of these skills, we encourage and appreciate it. During snack and lunch Ms. Denise and I have been demonstrating good table manners. We both understand that they are kids, but have talked about the importance of sitting nicely at the table, chewing with your mouth closed, talking quietly with friends at the table, and clearing their space when done eating.

The week of September 26 we will begin learning about the alphabet. We will explore a letter a week. While exploring each letter we will engage in many different activities including art, music, movement, snacks, learning games and language. Each week we will do something special with the letter of the week. For example we will make applesauce and have it for snack the first week. I will be writing daily with each diaper change.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of school to home learning and vise versa. Please parents if you are potty training and using Pull Ups, we ask that you purchase the Pull Ups that have tabs, so we are not having to undress and dress with each diaper change.

We would like to thank the Baker family for the gernerous donation of puzzles and Zack's handy work.

As always please feel free to come and talk with us if you have any questions for concerns of ideas. We are open to trying new things and always looking for ideas.

Thank you for the opportunity to spend time with your toddlers. We cannot tell you how many times we laugh at things they have learned and how to do and relish in what is to come as they continue to grow and learn.
